Miltoniopsis grow best in bright-indirect light or filtered light. In a home, place them in an east-facing window with a sheer curtain. With increased light, their leaves may turn a brighter yellow-green color.

These are cool-intermediate growing plants and tend to favor the cooler side. Aim for a daytime temps between 60-75F and nightime temps down into the 50s.

Miltoniopsis will struggle in temperatures above 80F, especially if prolonged.

They make great houseplants for this reason, as we tend to keep our houses below that!

Miltoniopsis will not tolerate going completely dry, they need to be kept moist. They don't want to be soggy either! Water just when the media is starting to dry.

A good media to use for these plants is a fine bark with perlite or using sphagnum moss to retain moisture.

They require at least 60% to 70% humidity. Use a room humidifier to help increase humidity.

If the plants are well-watered, keeping the humidity high is not as important.

With increased humidity, increase airflow!

These plants are sensitive to salt build-up. Fertilize every other week with a diluted, balanced fertilizer (10-10-10) and use at 1/4 strength on the label.

It is a good idea to flush the pot with pure (distilled) water once a month to remove any build-up.

Even better is inoculating the substrate with beneficial mycorrhizae (we use Great White) to facilitate nutrient uptake and prevent fertilizing issues.

Miltoniopsis are a bit sensitive to repotting, they can languish a bit when their roots are disturbed. Repot every 1–2 years using a fresh mix just after the blooming cycle finishes and new roots are appearing.

We suggest rinsing the roots with water to remove any previous media instead of messing with the roots by hand to reduce any root damage.

When cutting any plant parts, always use a sterile cutting tool!
