Cattleya lueddemanniana
Cattleya lueddemanniana
A captivating, classic collector species native to Venezuela first described in 1854. It grows in warm temps up to 90F and blooms in late winter and spring. They naturally receive very high light - many grow in full sun in their natural habitat.
It's an easy species to grow and adapts quickly to new growing environments. It will appreciate drying quickly and completely between watering and does well in clay pots or wooden baskets with little medium.
Though it can grow in full sun, it does not require it to flower well, which makes it great to grow in a windowsill. We recommend growing in a South window for best light.
Like most Cattleya, the best time to repot is when new roots are just appearing.
These are near blooming size plants in 2" pots.
**Note that some plants have red 'spotting' on new growths, this is a normal occurrence for this species when grown in bright light and is not from a pathogen!
