Cattleya purpurata var. flammea 'Maui' x sib 'Extra'
Cattleya purpurata is a classic collector species and many cultivars and clones with varying color variations have been created over time. This cultivar features a deep purple color in the lip with lavender and white blushing on the petals.
The flammea variety comes from a Latin term meaning "flame-colored" where the intense pinks and purples in some Cattleya orchids resemble flames or streaks; they often have darker, more intense colors than other variants.
These are fragrant with a light rose scent and will bloom with clusters of 2-4 flowers from the new growth.
These plants are established seedlings in 2" pots. About 2-3 years until blooming size.
