Cattleya walkeriana 'Kula' 4N x 'Pauwela' 4N

Quantity

A very famous Brazilian species well known for it's large, pink, fragrant flowers and unusual blooming habit.

Typically, Cattleyas bloom on inflorescences from the end of the new growth, where the leaf meets the pseudobulb. C. walkeriana's flowers emerge directly from the base of the plant (the rhizome) and tend to resemble new growths until the buds develop.

These plants require very bright light to bloom and will tolerate direct morning or late-afternoon sun.

Water very thoroughly during the growing season, allowing the media to dry in between watering. Give a distinct dry winter rest period - reduce watering drastically during the fall and winter.

If you can, allow the plants some exposure to temps down in the low-mid 50s (F) during the fall and winter to help induce blooming.

These plants are very commonly found mounted in cultivation due to their unique growth cycles and watering needs. We highly recommend to keep them mounted!

Once they're mature, this cross is expected to produce large, well formed, deep pink flowers. This is a 4N cross and plants will be vigorous growers!

Offered plants are seedlings that are about 3 years to blooming size, growing in 2" pots.
