Chysis bractescens
Chysis bractescens
Chysis are semi-terrestrial plants that are native to Central America.
Their growth habit is similar to catasetinae - they have thick pseudobulbs that can become pendulous featuring deciduous, thin leaves and require large amounts of water during active growth - the media should never dry completely during this time. In winter months, they should dry much more, watering only when the media dries or is nearly dry - watch the pseudobulbs for shriveling.
The main culture differences between Chysis and Catasetinae is Chysis requires more humidity and more moisture during winter.
