Cyrtorchis chailluana 'Maui Beauty' x self
Cyrtorchis chailluana 'Maui Beauty' x self
A unique and rare to come by species native to western Africa; it's in the Angraecoid family and grows similarly.
Plants prefer frequent watering but require a drier, cooler rest period during the fall and winter months.
These are very often grown mounted as their monopodial growths tend to become long and pendulous.
These will bloom in the spring/summer time and produce flushes of white, wispy flowers that are sweetly fragrant. As the flowers age, they will discolor from white to an apricot/pink-yellow color.
An interesting fact about this species - they are moth pollinated in the wild and flower with the longest nectar spur of their genus. This spur (at the bottom of the blooms) is a hollow, tubular extension that houses sweet nectar that a specific moth species drinks.
These are near blooming size (likely will bloom in the next 12-18 months), we have recently mounted them to bark.
