Dendrobium smillieae 'H&R Giant' x 'Lea'
Dendrobium smillieae 'H&R Giant' x 'Lea'
These Dendrobium are also known as the 'Bottle Brush Orchid', named for their distinct cluster of flowers that resemble a brush.
Plants are robust and easy growers. They are deciduous (in the pedilonum section Dendrobiums) that drop their leaves in fall/winter and then bloom from bare canes in the spring and summer. Flowers can last upwards of a month!
Canes can grow quite long and become pendulous, so they do very well mounted.
Keep in intermediate-warm conditions, give moderate light, and water well during active growth. See our 'Dendrobium Care Guide' under the Nobile section on our Care Guides tab for care tips (though not in the Nobile section of Dendrobiums, these follow similar care).
Intermediate seedling plants (about 2 years to blooming) established in 2" pots.
