Dendrobium tenellum
Dendrobium tenellum
A rare species hailing from Java featuring an unusual growth habit for Dendrobiums (not to be confused with Dendrochilum tenellum which is a different species from a different genus!). It has small round pseudobulbs with long, thin, grass-like leaves.
The flowers are tiny and short lived, but fragrant! They have been described as smelling like honey.
Plants grow in shaded, indirect light and should be watered just when the media starts to dry. Mounted plants should be watered daily.
Watering should be reduced in the winter until new growth starts, but since they are not deciduous, they should not have a very dry rest period, just a slight reduction in watering frequency.
These are cool-intermediate growing species, keep between 60-80F, and in high humidity.
Blooming size plants that were recently mounted to bark.
