Prosthechea radiata
Prosthechea radiata
(Syn. Encyclia radiata)
A unique species native to Central America and Mexico. It grows epiphytically in compact clusters of spindle-shaped pseudobulbs with long leaves.
Flowers are star shaped and also bloom resupinately, meaning the lip is on the top of the flower and appears "upside down". Flowers are a creamy-white to slightly green with red stripes on the lip, and they also are pleasantly fragrant! Some say they smell akin to root-beer!
Grows best in intermediate light and temps and watered when the media just dries. Reduce watering in winter.
Blooming size plants in 3" pots.
