Goodyera hispida
Goodyera hispida
A rare, beautiful jewel orchid species native to Southeast Asia that grows as a terrestrial in warm, humid rainforests.
The leaves are highly prized for their striking silver-white veining - they almost look electrified! Plants produce small peach and white flowers on a upright inflorescence.
Plants are slow growing and compact. They are best suited for terrariums and very humid environments (70%+).
Give plants shaded light and keep consistently moist (but not waterlogged). They can be grown well in shallow pots in a medium of sphagnum moss or in a moisture retentive mix such as tree fern fiber, perlite, small sized bark, etc.
These plants are not heavy feeders, be light on any fertilizers used - dilute a balanced fertilizer (i.e. 10-10-10 or weaker) to 1/8 of the dose on the packaging and only feed every 4-6 weeks during active growth.
Plants offered rooted in sphagnum moss.
