Prosthechea prismatocarpa
Prosthechea prismatocarpa
This species (syn. Encyclia prismatocarpa) is native to Central America where it grows in humid, tropical lowland rainforests.
They are best grown mounted or in a very well draining media, with the media kept consistently but lightly moist until winter months when they should be kept drier. Keep slightly shaded - they require less light than a standard cattleya, but more than a phalaenopsis (in a home they can be grown in an East window or a South window with a sheer curtain).
The blooms are a beautiful, cascading display of creamy-green flowers with red-brown spots and a pink lip. They are also known to be fragrant and long lasting.
These are seedlings (about 2 years to blooming size) in 2" pots.
*Note that they were just potted and are not yet established!
